For some years we have been dreaming of our own holiday home in the South of Spain. For one part to enjoy it and otherwise to rent it out to people wanting to enjoy an unforgettable holiday.


Everybody knows that we are very much in love with Malaga city. Buying something in the city itself to live there and rent out, is out of our budget. Also, properties in close areas to the city like Pedregalejo & El Palo are very expensive, unfortunately. So, we quickly put that out of our minds.

La Axarquia region

We have visited lots of B&B’s and discovered mostly the Malaga-East region. We have traveled to many white villages like Riogordo, Comares, Competa, Viñuela, Alcaucin, Arenas, Torrox Pueblo, Velez-Malaga, Nerja, Frigiliana, … Also, with the E-bike we have cycled grand tours of this beautiful area and fell in love instantly with the region. We really felt at home in the Axarquia.

Torre del Mar

It would have been great to purchase a holiday villa in the Axarquia region. Not too far away from the coast and with lots of possibilities within our budget. The coastal town Torre del Mar is very enjoyable because it’s not too crowded with tourist and mostly lots of Spanish people. It’s still very authentic in comparison with other Coastal towns at the Costa del Sol. Of course, these are personal preferences. Luckily not everyone loves the Axarquia-region and it’s still relatively quiet.

IMMOTIONS REAL ESTATE with years of experience

In the month of September, we first contacted Immotions Real Estate because we had seen many properties on their website in that area. We had also heard lots of positive feedback through friends of us about Immotions, who had guided them through the process of buying their property or B&B. And above all, the after-sales service.

From the first contact onwards, we had an immediate ‘click’ with Patrick who above all always replied very quickly on every question, at whatever time we asked. This way of working was considered ‘top’ by us!

Viñuela lake

The day after our first contact we immediately went for a tour with Patrick for a viewing: a Spanish bungalow with private pool & beautiful lake views. The house was a bit above budget but it was well worth the trouble to have a look at it. During the viewing Patrick noticed really fast what we wanted for our holiday home, which was the main goal of the first contact and viewing. We didn’t require lots of information about the area because we know it very well. This was of course an advantage for our search.

We made a deal with Patrick that he would look for some properties within our budget that he would e-mail us so we could select houses for the next viewing.
First days we immediately received a selection of properties in our mail box. Based on the pictures and location we could shortlist quickly ourselves. We had a lot of criteria to be met.


Our second viewings was a mixture of different villas & fincas. Patrick had arranged everything on very short notice. It was all arranged perfectly. Patrick listens really well to what the client wants. And of course, this is very much appreciated by us. He is also very flexible to make appointments. Client is king is still highly valued by Immotions Real Estate. Marvelous feeling to be able to set our first steps on the road to acquiring our dream home in Spain.

Modern Spanish holiday home

We immediately had a very good feeling about the first holiday home at the end of a small urbanization. It has a very good and easy access to the main road. A beautiful view from the large sun terrace with private pool. With 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms this house seemed ideal with sufficient potential for renting out. Combined with a good feeling. We were off to a superb start.

Finca in the campo

The other house was a little finca in the campo. It also has a large sun terrace with marvelous views to the sea, Lake Viñuela and Alcaucin. Unbelievably beautiful. Speechless. But the road leading up to the campo would be too difficult and dangerous for renters. Unfortunately.

Immotions knew exactly what we wanted after this viewing. The holiday home in the urbanization was love at first sight anyway. Based on that house we received some more options in our mailbox from Patrick.

Personal budget

On our third viewing we went back to the house in the urbanization. This confirmed again our big interest in this villa.
After that we had Patrick arrange another house in Cortijos Romeras. The sales price was lower but a lot more TLC was required. Too much for us. And the sun terrace was a bit too small for our liking. Although from this place had beautiful views to mount Maroma, more than 2000 meters high.

Offer accepted

Our thoughts stayed with the first villa in the urbanization and we decided to make an offer. Our offer was accepted quickly. Superb, the first step was set. On this moment Charlotte of Immotions steps in full force to arrange the reservation contract. Everything was explained step by step and arranged very quickly. A complementary team at Immotions!


Patrick & Charlotte of Immotions also arranged a lawyer for us with whom they have a lot of experience. As you know it’s not the notary who does the work for a sale as in Belgium but a lawyer does almost everything in Spain for purchasing real estate.

Power of attorney

Mid December an appointment was arranged with the lawyer to give power of attorney so the lawyer could sign several documents after we gave our consent. This way we didn’t have to be present in Spain for signing every time. End of December we had our personal NIE number, again arranged perfectly by the lawyer.

Loan with the Spanish bank

Charlotte of Immotions had arranged the loan in the meantime with the Spanish Bank. Also, for that you receive the necessary service of Immotions so everything runs smoothly. The bank appointed an expert to evaluate the house. Everything was done in a short amount of time. Everything ran in a high tempo. Charlotte & Patrick made sure to keep us posted on every step.


Very important for us and even more for our guests is the WiFi. In no time Patrick arranged the contract with the internet provider of the Axarquia, a reliable partner. The second day after receiving the keys, they installed the Wifi very professional and made the connection for digital TV through internet. Again, an extra top after-sale service of Immotions.


With a few weeks of delay, completely due to the procedures taking longer than planned on the side of the sellers, we received a call that a date was set for completion. Beginning of March, the signature of the contract was planned. Very well arranged by Charlotte.

Immotions after-sale advice

In the meantime, we started planning for renting out. We received a lot of advice from Patrick because he used to rent out his villa in Spain. We also received several addresses from Patrick that made our preparations easier and above all to go quickly. For the big works to the villa we asked a quotation from a Spanish constructor via Patrick. Very reliable and we saw a perfect execution with friends who have a B&B in Alcaucin. The works were planned quickly, also here perfect execution.

Since the beginning of March, when we received the keys to our dream home, we still have weekly contact with Patrick & Charlotte for advice and after-sale help. This is essential in the process. There is a lot to deal with but with adequate help it’s all very manageable.
